Distribuția și înălțimea rafturilor se determină în funcție de caracteristicile stivuitoarelor, de elementele de depozitare și de dimensiunile spațiului.

Pentru a depozita un număr mai mare de paleți, pot fi instalate rafturi cu adâncime dublă, care permit depozitarea unui palet în fața altuia pe fiecare parte a culoarului.
